Chalk Paint Mirror Frame

The great thing about chalk paint is that there is no sanding or other prep work well minus taping off the mirror.

Once the chalk paint was dry i wiped on annie sloan s white wax with a lint free cloth. Scrape the paint off the mirror with a razor blade. I m not very handy with razor blades so i had my hubby scrape off the paint. You should apply two to three coats to the frame.

Now you are ready to spray paint the mirror frame with the chalk paint. Chalk paint drys very quickly. For this mirror frame i went with a lighter blue annie sloan chalk paint in duck egg. Use a round paint brush to get the best coverage over the frame.

Pushing it into the curves and grooves gives it more of a softer coastal look. Use french linen to apply a wash over the white coat. Chalk paint dries pretty fast. You could use standard chalk paint and a brush but given how small a surface mirror frames usually are spray chalk paint works just as well and is much faster.

It was pretty convenient that there was already a layer of blue paint on there. Paint the entire mirror frame and make sure to properly cover any detailing or crevices. Paint entire mirror frame 2 3 coats of white chalk paint allowing dry time between coats. 30 minutes is the approximate time for each light coat to dry.

The instructions just said to spray the mirror with window cleaner. He said it was actually super easy. Apply chalk paint to the mirror frame for a vintage look frame. Tape off mirror with painter s tape for easier clean up in the end.
