Unlike other monofilament threads made from nylon monopoly is 100 polyester. Polyamide is nylon s chemical name. My personal favorites are both made of nylon one made by yli called wonder invisible thread. Unlike other monofilament threads made from weaker nylon materials monopoly is made from polyester.

This perfectly pliable thread in clear or smoke is ideal for invisible quilting and applique. Clear thread either nylon or polyester monofilament can be a bit tricky to use. The clear thread is great to use for multi colored fabrics or for colors that are hard to match and leaves no obvious traces of stitching once done. This very fine 004 100 polyester monofilament thread is soft strong and smooth. I use them for both machine quilting and invisible machine applique. Clear thread comes in both nylon and polyester.

However the benefit of using it to quilt over a variety of fabric colors and textures without the thread showing is worth it. If your spool reads polyamide it is actually nylon and not polyester.
